About Col. Dr. Saumitra Sircar
Dr Saumitra Sircar started his orthopaedic career after completing his post graduate training at the prestigious AIIMS New Delhi. He was by that time already a post graduate in general surgery from well known Armed Forces Medical College Pune and had been practicing general surgery for six years. He has since then performed numerous operations of complex trauma and fractures, Joint replacement and arthroscopy with excellent results.
Before starting his orthopaedic practice in Kolkata Dr Sircar was Head of Department of Orthopaedics of Command Hospital Kolkata, the largest armed forces orthopaedic centre in Eastern region, for five years. He had successfully introduced shoulder arthroscopic Surgery, revision hip and knee replacement surgeries here.
Dr Sircar follows evidence based practice in orthopaedics which is known to be the most scientific way of practicing medicine. Over the years he has perfected certain techniques in total knee replacement surgery and arthroscopic ACL reconstructions based on his own experience.
Dr Sircar has been postgraduate teacher in West Bengal medical university for more than five years. He is an able administrator and after completing his MBA in hospital administration he has made efforts to study as to how to make healthcare affordable,transparent and efficient. He has special interest in Geriatric orthopaedics including problems of the elderly and sports medicine.
